Footscray Community Arts Centre will be abuzz with activity this Saturday when a world of words, dance and sound come together for this year’s Fringe Festival program.
From 1pm, artists including Yeshi, Supina Bytol, Mito Elias, Guntur Dance Company and The Chaotic Order will take to the FCAC Happy River Lawn for a free day program.
Market stalls will offer local handmade products and a sausage sizzle as Happy River Cafe will keep the drinks and food flowing.
At 5.30pm a procession of artists will lead the way to the FCAC Rose Garden for a ceremonial cremation of JOLT’s exhibition
Creative + Cremated, in which James Hullick constructed kinetic sound machines from hard rubbish.
From 7pm, in a ticketed event, New Wayfinders will take over for
MEMORY//DISPERSE, a visual and auditory performance of dance, music and poetry.
Fringe festivities continue throughout the week at FCAC, starting with two-part performance
Stir Fry that combines movement, acoustic song and music in a 20-minute play, before transforming into a 70-minute participatory dialogue, at 7pm Monday and Tuesday September 25-26.
Emerging writers from the western suburbs share a new spin on old tales with
Sidekicked, the stories of the less glorified chum behind great heros, at 7pm Thursday, September 21.
