Caroline Springs Dog Club gets new home at Hillside

The Caroline Springs Dog Club has officially launched its new Hillside base.

The club had been sharing facilities with various sports clubs in Brookfield for the past 14 years. Now it has a place to call its own.

Vice-president Pat Gurrie said the club had been negotiating with Melton council for four years in a bid to find a permanent place.

“We’re excited. It gives us that measure of independence,” Mr Gurrie said.

“This way we know there’s not going to be hindrances with anybody wanting to share the reserve.”

The not-for-profit club started training at its new base, at Boronia Drive Reserve, Hillside, in February and is excited about the future.

Melton council contributed $130,000 towards upgrades at the reserve.

Mayor Sophie Ramsey said the council recognised the need for the club to have its own “dedicated space”.

“Council values the contribution of the Caroline Springs Dog Club to the community and we wish them every success at their new location,” Cr Ramsey said.
