A woman has died en route to hospital after being stabbed at a St Albans unit early on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to respond to a woman who had been stabbed at a Main Road East property just before 12.30am.
A Police spokeswoman said a woman was found with life threatening injuries.
The victim, who is yet to be identified, died on the way to the hospital.
Police have not revealed the circumstances surrounding the incident but are treating the woman’s death a suspicious.
Homicide squad detectives remain at the scene of the crime this morning.
About 8am police were seen carrying bags of evidence out of the unit, including a brown paper bag labelled “contents of cream and black handbag located o/s front door”.

Police have taped off several properties and a pole next to one of the units is covered in blood.
A towel lay next to the pole but it has since been removed by detectives.
