New car clamped

A Taylors Lakes speedster bought and lost his car on the same day after it was impounded by police. The Brimbank highway patrol used a roadside immobilisation clamp to impound the P-plater’s new car for 30 days after he was caught speeding in Taylors Lakes last Tuesday. Highway patrol members detected the 20-year-old’s VW Golf GTI near Parmelia Way travelling about 60km/h above the 80km/h speed limit. He was carrying four passengers and is expected to be charged with driving at excessive speed.

Merc roadster stolen

A rare Mercedes Benz roadster was stolen on February 14 between noon and 2pm while it was parked on George Street, St Albans. The owner returned home to find his white 2007 SL65 AMG – one of just five in Australia – gone. A witness saw two men and a tow truck in the area about the time the car went missing.

Killed pedestrian unidentified

A man who was hit and killed by a truck in Brooklyn almost three weeks ago has not yet been identified. The man, believed to be between 30 and 50 years old, was killed while crossing Geelong Road about 1.45am on February 17. The unidentified man was seen walking past the Half Moon Caravan Park and across the Millers Road intersection before he was killed. He is described as 181 centimetres tall, with a slim build, dark balding hair, a greying beard, moustache and hazel eyes. Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
