World of the wild comes up close

Some reptiles wove their way among the shoppers at Brimbank shopping centre last week, but not the innocuous small skinks you might catch scuttling across the garden path.

Australian pythons, big lizards and even a freshwater crocodile were among animals on show last Tuesday and Thursday, a special Australia Day attraction for people enjoying the public holiday.

Deer Park business A&AWildlife treated shoppers to an up close and personal experience with 15 indigenous species.

As well as the reptiles, the crew brought along a sugar glider and an endangered tiger quoll.

Centre manager Linda Vella said it was a great experience for staff and shoppers alike “to get up close with some of our wildlife friends who call Australia home”.

, held annually on January 26 to coincide with the arrival of the First Fleet of British ships on Australian soil in 1788
