When compromise is gold

The year Cristina married Tony was difficult for the then 18-year-old. She moved from Calabria to Australia with her family in February, 1966, and lost her older brother in July. But things began to turn around when she married Tony in December. The Sunshine North couple will celebrate their 50th, or “gold”, wedding anniversary on December 3 surrounded by their four children and 11 grandchildren. Mrs Prestinenzi said the key to a successful marriage was compromise – “on everything”. “And I think I’m a good wife,” she said with a laugh. The couple wed at St Augustines Parish in Yarraville just six months after they were introduced by Mrs Prestinenzi’s brother-in-law. …
