St Albans Meadows primary school put on a Christmas show

Aseem, Daniel and Annie (pictured) are among prep and grade 1 pupils at St Albans Meadows Primary School who have been working on their vocal cords and dance moves for some time now.

The children have been busy practising for their end of year concert, a Christmas story inspired by the famed score Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote for The Nutcracker.

Performing arts teacher Emilia Rio-Scaddan said the show was a dramatisation of the classic Christmas story, which centres on a young girl named Clara, who is given a nutcracker toy by her magician godfather at a Christmas party.

“Students will be telling the story through movement, song and dance,” Ms Rio-Scaddan said. “They will transform themselves into flowers, fairies, lollies, mice and toys to create a magical world.”

Buon Natale, a Christmas story set in Tuscany, is on December 7 at 2pm and 4pm. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased from the school office.
