November is the time to remember. And Caroline Springs RSL Sub Branch president Peter Burquest says his team of volunteers is committed to making this year’s Poppy Appeal the most memorable yet.

From late this month, the iconic red poppies will be sold to raise funds for current and former servicemen and women in need.

“Our community continues to come together to support the Poppy Appeal in the lead-up to Remembrance Day [November 11],” Mr Burquest said. “It is humbling to see the wave of support and enthusiasm by the locals who support the Poppy Appeal.”

Poppies were among the first plants to bloom in the devastated World War I battlefields of France and Belgium, and since 1921 they have been used in remembrance of those who fell.

You can buy poppies from Woolworths, Officeworks, RSLs or from volunteer collectors. You can also donate at www.poppyappeal.com.au.
