Meditation for women

Join other women to learn and explore different meditation techniques in a friendly environment at Good Shepherd, 354 Main Road West, St Albans. The five-week program begins on Wednesday, October 19, and classes run from 1.15-2.30pm.

Hone your trivia prowess

Impress your friends with your knowledge and help support one of Brimbank’s most important emergency services when the Brimbank SES holds a trivia night on Friday, November 4 from 7.30pm at the Westend Market Hotel in Sunshine. There will also be a silent auction, raffles, and games. Cost $15 per person, $100 for a table of 10. BYO snacks, drinks at bar prices.

Jones Creek working picnic

Learn how to keep established plants flourishing at an environmental event in Albion. A working picnic at Jones Creek will be held on Sunday, October 16, from 10am to maintain a planting project. Bring along a picnic lunch. Organisers will supply cakes, treats and kids games. Don’t forget water, hat, sturdy shoes and sunscreen. Meet at 639 Ballarat Road, Albion.

Detox your home

Want to rid your house of harmful chemicals and do the right thing by the environment? Take part in Detox Your Home on November 5 from 10am-4pm. It’s a safe, free and easy-to-use service to dispose of common household chemicals without harming your health or the environment. Register online, then turn up on the day with your unwanted items. The site address in Hoppers Crossing will be provided on registration.

Derrimut family fun

The Derrimut Community Centre will hold a Family Fun Day and Twilight Market on Sunday, December 18, from 4-7pm. There will be an animal farm, jumping castles, free kids activities and exhibitions and food vans – or bring a picnic dinner and stay for Carols by Candlelight from 8pm.

 

Sunshine show blooms

The Sunshine Garden Club’s Spring Show will be held on Wednesday, October 12, from 7-9pm. See a wide range of spring blooms including orchids, roses, birds of paradise and other flowers and plants. A trading table will have plants at bargain prices.

Sydneham community party

The Sydenham Baptist Church will hold a Community Fun Day on Saturday, October 15, from 10am-3pm. Enjoy a fun-filled day and meet some surprise movie characters, or just enjoy the car boot sale, plant market, cake stall, kids activities and Devonshire teas.
