See You Next Tuesday in Sunshine North to meet office oddballs

What happens in the office certainly does not stay in the office – at least not if St Albans playwright Stephen Andrews has anything to do with it.

The experienced writer has penned the comedy See You Next Tuesday for Sunshine Community Theatre, and it takes to the stage from April 17.

Andrews says the production – the company’s first for the year – is an office comedy about lowly worker Keith and the secrets that are revealed in the office after dark.

“The original story came from a friend of mine, who would regularly tell me stories about his office work. I thought some of the stories were funny enough for a play,” Andrews says.

The plot focuses on how Keith can’t turn on a building alarm because a bird got in and flew around.

“The farces just multiply from that point and Keith’s evening goes from bad to simply ridiculous,” Andrews says.

The play is directed by Sunshine North resident Alan Barrett, who says that what it lacks in office experience, the show makes up for in comedy.

“It’s great to be back on the stage again. The audience will be laughing in the aisles.”

The play is at the Dempster Park Hall, 82 Phoenix Street, Sunshine North, from April 17-25. Tickets are available at bit.ly/1z007e7.
