Melody and rhythm fuse for Taylors Hill musician

Shweta Krishnamurthy is an accountant by day and a musician, who goes by the stage name of Xylo Aria, by night.

The 25-year-old Taylors Hill resident will be launching a film clip to accompany her latest single Paradigm next month.

The free event at city venue Howler Bar on September 1 will also feature dancers from Hoppers Crossing studio Dance Nation Academy.

Krishnamurthy says her music is inspired by the melodies she grew up with in southern India, where she was born, called Carnatic music.

“My grandparents taught me bits of it growing up, and my interest grew, so I enrolled in classes,” she says.

While hesitant to pigeonhole her music into a particular genre, Krishnamurthy describes her sound as “experimental, electronic R&B”.

She hopes to dedicate herself to music full-time in the future.
