Richa flinches at every move, noise and glance. She’s suspicious of “every little thing” and anyone who looks at her.
As night falls, Richa, 26, has flashbacks of the four people who broke into her Caroline Springs home in the early hours of Saturday, July 16.
“Anyone who looks at me or drives past me, I feel suspicious that they’re going to attack again,” Richa told Star Weekly.
“It’s really scary to stay home by yourself.
“They’ve violated my space, ruined my family’s mental state, made us scared of every little thing, of people, of noises and things. I’m really angry.”
Richa was home with her parents, who were the first to wake, and her 16-year-old brother, when four intruders broke into their home.
“When I first woke up, I didn’t know what was happening … [My brother’s] really afraid because he thinks the worst could have happened.”
She says her mum feared for her life.
Richa is angry that she no longer feels safe in her home. She says she’s developed anxiety and feels like she’s going to have a nervous breakdown.
“It’s impacted my whole life.”
Two teenage boys have been charged with the aggravated burglary of Richa’s home.
