As the pressure of VCE exams builds, a Caroline Springs medical team will meet local families to discuss ways to beat the stress.
Active Medical will host two sessions at Lakeview Senior College later this month to talk about youth mental health and ways to support young people and their families.
Dr Zahra Shahzad and psychologist Vanina Ventureira will cover mindfulness strategies and ways to keep stress at bay.
Dr Shahzad said it is paramount that VCE students get adequate sleep, regular meals, water and exercise, as well as being given the chance to communicate during stressful times.
“There is no reason why students can’t have fun while they learn coping strategies,” Dr Shahzad said. “This is why we’re engaging them on the day with a specially created selfie frame and relevant hashtags – to encourage continued involvement is so important.”
The student mindfulness session will run from 11.40am-12.40pm on Thursday, August 25, at the school’s auditorium. Parents will get a chance to speak with the medical professionals from 6-7pm.
The event is free. Details: 9363 0954
