Much-loved funnyman George Kapiniaris says he’s prepared to brave the throngs of Collingwood and Carlton football supporters in Melbourne’s north-west if it means he can host a charity dinner dance there next month.
The eastern suburbs actor and comedian, best known for Acropolis Now and Fat Pizza, says he’s always “happy to help” when it comes to charity, and he will MC the annual Autism Angels dinner dance on August 6.
Autism Angels is a non-profit volunteer-run organisation providing support to families of children with autism.
“I’ve been involved in many fundraisers over the past few years, helping families and children affected by autism,” Kapiniaris said.
“I know a lot of families and friends who are struggling … hard for the child, hard for the parents.”
To be held at The Luxor in Taylors Lakes, the dinner dance will feature a band and a children’s entertainer.
“I’m from the east side of town, but it’s not that far,” Kapiniaris said.
“Only problem with the north is that there are too many Collingwood and Carlton supporters.”
Tickets are $50 for children 12 years and under, $80 for adults.
