July 7, 1976

Sunshine Council has told the state government the proposed Derrimut stock yards should be relocated south of Rockbank. The new site is within the shires of Melton and Werribee.

July 9, 1986

The future of St Albans Cricket Club was in doubt at last night’s meeting of Sunshine Council. The meeting, which was held after the Advocate went to press, was to decide whether the club would be forced to stay in the Sunshine Cricket Association or advance to a higher level of competition. The SCA opposes the proposed move.

July 10, 1996

A draft report into western regional hospitals has called for the Western Hospital’s Sunshine campus to be increased in size and services. The move is a shift away from centrally located hospitals.

July 11, 2006

Brimbank residents face an average rate rise of three to four per cent when the council announces its budget later this month. The across-the-board average rise will be six per cent. There has also been a whopping $3 million blow-out within six months in the cost of the $9.5 million Sunshine Swim and Leisure Centre redevelopment.
