Wee folk settle in

There’s gnome doubt about it … home is where the heart is. Just off the Calder Freeway’s Keilor Park Drive exit at Keilor Park, a wee village has popped up under a gum tree, fascinating drivers and passers-by alike with its ever-changing landscape. Tree number 257 has been adorned with a black door, outdoor light and overhead sign that reads: Gnome Sweet Gnome. Gnomes come and go on a daily basis; even some plastic toys – including dinosaurs – have paid a visit, and stayed. A little sign at the site reads: “This was made by Nathan, Seth and Zoe on 29-01-15 for some fun by two kids and there (sic) daddy.” The gnome village has inspired a Facebook page by local Natalie MacKinnon, who has visited the site with her niece Courtney and other family members, who brought along their own gnomes. … Charlene Macaulay
