Sure, the Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre is mostly about bikes.
But centre president David Bennett wants the Keilor Downs community centre to offer more than just a nice set of wheels.
A coffee machine was installed last year with the intention of offering barista training courses for unemployed Brimbank young people.
Because of the success of the first course, offered last November, two more will be held this year, the first this month.
“Unemployment in Brimbank is horrendous, and hospitality is fairly easy for young people to get part-time work in,” Mr Bennett said.
Coffee expert Lachlan McKenzie will teach job seekers the origins of the bean, how to make the perfect cup of java, how to create latte art and tips on serving customers.
The free course will be held on May 23, 25 and 27, from 9.30am-2.30pm. Enrolments are now being accepted. Details: 9415 8700 or email training@jss.org.au
