Generous souls at a Burnside child care centre have spearheaded a Deer Park man’s goal to raise $2000 for cancer research.
Ryan Blyth shaved his hair for the World’s Great Shave at the Goodstart Early Learning Centre on April 15 in front of family, friends and centre kids, with Ryan’s three-year-old nephew Eli doing the honours with the clippers.
The 22-year-old had said whoever donated the most money could shave his hair and pick the setting.
The centre chipped in a whopping $650, more than half of the $1200 Ryan has raised so far for people living with leukaemia, and nominated Eli as barber for the deed.
“I just wanted to help out and give back,” Ryan said. “One of my mum’s cousins has cancer. He’s doing all right.
“Eli had a ball cutting my hair – he was loving it. I’m liking my new hairdo. It doesn’t take me long to get ready in the morning.”
