Asbestos found in Brimbank Park

A section of Brimbank Park has been closed after the discovery of asbestos.

Parks Victoria said on its website “a small section” between Green Gully Road and Kulin Wetlands had been closed after the discovery on both sides of the pedestrian trail near Taylors Creek.

“Remedial works” will begin as soon as possible, Parks Victoria say.

“For your safety visitors are asked to avoid the closed area and to use other parts of the park until further notice,” its website said.

“Parks Victoria is determining options for the safe management of asbestos material.”

Parks Victoria has yet to respond to Star Weekly’s question about of the asbestos had been illegally dumped.
