Ageing and unsuitable buildings at Sunshine Special Development School will soon be a thing of the past.

A classroom upgrade for the school valued at $2.5 million will be funded in this week’s state budget.

It will be one of 20 specialist schools in the state to have classrooms upgraded.

Acting principal Colin Schot said the school was “absolutely delighted” to get the funding.

“Sunshine Special Developmental School has been coping with ageing buildings and facilities that were not purpose-built for our students for many, many years,” he said.

“This [funding] … will enable the school to provide facilities that support excellence in teaching and learning for our students.”
